(Paddle) Tennis, Anyone?

If, like us, you are more apres-ski than actual ski, winter doesn’t leave you many outdoor sports to choose from. Which is why we’re all in on paddle tennis—a tennis/racquetball hybrid played on a raised, heated, metal platform court with a rubber ball and a (you guessed it) laminated paddle.

The game gained momentum in and around New York City in the early 20th century, and now enjoys bicoastal status thanks to fans in spots like Venice Beach, California.

What’s behind paddle’s cult following? We put together a crew last week to find out. 

Maybe it was the nautical backdrop.  The nail-biting plays. The fresh air in our paddle-perfect #dsgoods. Or the apres-play cheersing.

Most likely all of the above—which is why we love-love the idea of playing on until the first signs of spring.
